TUURI (Finland), 16 February 2013 – The Finnish track of Tuuri hosted the 2013 FIM Snowcross World Championship which will be a turning point in the history of the sport due to the huge crowd, the worldwide LIVE TV Coverage in HD, the top class facilities and the superb racing. Once again the World Champion was decided in the very last laps of race three and Adam Renheim was crowned World Champion ahead of his compatriot Petter Narsa and American Christian Logan.

The day did not start really well for Adam Renheim after crashing in the first corner of the qualifying race and not qualifying automatically for the main event. The Swedish rider had to take part in the Last Chance Qualifying Practice to assure his place in the final three races. Finally, Renheim succeeded in entering the main event and he actually had an impressive start in race one, taking the lead from the beginning until the chequered flag. In the second race the Swedish did not have such a good start, but he made an incredible recovery from seventh to second. In the final race Renheim started down in eleventh, so he knew that he had to finish in the top three to keep on fighting for the Title. In the end, the young Swedish rider managed to cross the finish line second, overtaking Logan in the last laps, and he was able to place his Ski-Doo machine on the top of the podium. Adam Reinhem was speechless at the end of the day after having obtained his maiden FIM Snowcross World Title.

Second in the Championship was Petter Narsa who was visibly disappointed for not having been able to win the FIM Snowcross World Title. He had been in the front in all the sessions, but he missed some speed in the first two heats where he finished second and third respectively. However, the Swedish rider gave it all in the final race and he was actually tight in points with his compatriot Renheim almost until the end of the race. Narsa succeeded in winning the race, but he finished two points behind Renheim in the overall classification.

Christian Logan completed the top three of the 2013 FIM Snowcross World Championship and he admitted that even if he could not finish on the top of the podium, he was very satisfied for having obtained the bronze medal. The American had a difficult first race but he gave all his best to move from ninth to third. In the second heat Logan had an excellent start, he took the lead in lap three and he kept it until the chequered flag. The American was facing the final race knowing that he had some of chances to be fighting for the Title and he actually had a great start and he raced second almost until the end of the heat. However, Renheim overtook the American having three laps to go.

Oskar Norum had a very consistent weekend and he managed to finish fourth overall in the Championship. The Swedish rider ended fourth in the first race, but in the second one, even if he started third, he crossed the finish line in the sixth position. In the third and final heat, Norum started down in the ninth position to finish fifth.

Home rider Aki Pihlaja was the best-classified Finnish rider ending fifth overall, tight in points with Swedish Filip Eriksson. Pihlaja could not improve his last year’s fifth result, but he was satisfied with his riding today taking into account that he still had a lot much pain in the hand he injured in December. Pihlaja ended 9-7-6 in the main races.

Filip Eriksson ended sixth overall, and Marcus Ogemar-Hellgren and Viktor Herten finished seventh and eighth being tight in forty points, just one point behind Eriksson and Pihlaja.

The day started really good for the three-times World Champion Peter Eriksson as he managed to win his qualifying race. But things started getting complicated in race one when he started down in eleventh, but he managed to finish sixth. However, Eriksson had to pull out from race two due to a mechanical problem, and although he obtained an impressive fourth place in the final heat, he was only able to end ninth overall in the championship, two points ahead home rider Mikko Osmo.

American rider Garth Kaufman, who was one of the favourites to be fighting for the podium, crashed in the free practice this morning and he was taken to the hospital as he had some pain in his back. The American will stay over the night in the hospital under observation, but there was no serious injured diagnosed.
